Before we start discussing taxation on fat people; where did they come up with those numbers?? $9.5 Billion??? Those numbers seem extremely high.

The problem with such a study is it doesn't account for the savings from people dying at a younger age due to obesity.

Maybe someone should impose a tax on you the next time you order the large fries with the XL Coke.
Just think of it as a progressive tax, the people who are obese can obviously afford large quantities of food and don't perform any physical labor. There is a reason they are called FAT cats, not skinny cats.

Many people who suffer from obesity are from lower income backgrounds. Coincidentally, cheap food tends to be very bad for you. I'm not saying it's an excuse, but we all make bad decisions in life. Just because we can't see your vices doesn't mean you don't have any . On a message board, we can pretend to be perfect human beings all we want.

Years ago, smokers were the whipping boy, and today it's the obese. I wonder what the next group of "bad" people will be used for us to project our self-righteous attitudes on.

Another thing I would like to point out is that obesity doesn't always result from excessively bad eating habits. When you start taxing Obese people; your going to be taxing lots of people with health issues. If I didn't have an abnormal metabolism; I'd probably be obese myself.

I am noticing a trend in this thread, I wonder why...

USATODAY.com - Houston again tops fattest city list

... Oh right. Nevermind.

That was a complete and utter fail
1. Posting an article that's over 8 years old
2. It's a study done by Men's Fitness, which is hardly scientific
3. Few people in this thread are from Houston
4. It has nothing to do with the original argument, but is just a roundabout way of suggesting everyone else here suffers from bad eating habits.
5. And then you wait 10 minutes after posting to add some corny pic that doesn't even make much sense.

...so again...FAIL.
