yes, mulch is used to contain moisture in soil and it helps to prevent foundation problems but it is not cool to use so much mulch that it mounds around the bottom of foundation/brick/exterior siding

changeofpace--nice to know that you could tell there were problems with those houses--many people just look at the room colors/sizes to decide if they like a house...

Was just curious if mulch around the foundation would increase termite possibilities or scorpians. We realize bugs, scorpians and snakes are just a matter of life, we just dont want to unnecessarily attract them. We have rattlers, bull snakes, garden snakes, recluse spiders, wood tics and dear tics here in MN where we live in MN. On the cool side we have egrets, owls, beavers, red fox, silver fox, cyotes, deer, wild turkey as yes, even bear and cougar tracks in our back yard along the creek. Don't want you texans to think you have all the wildlife and fun.
