you have never been to Europe hun, I have been a couple of times. Please stick to what you know. No part of SA feels European. I have ridden up the the Thames, The Danube in Germany, Romania and Hungary, The Limmat in Zurich, The Seine in Paris. I have walked along the Liffey, the Lee and the might River Shannon in Dublin, Cork and Limerick respectively. Dude that ditch that is the SA River is no comparison.

It's Austinites But anyway, a friend of mine in Houston posted a link to a story abt. BBayou and it seems as if it's becoming quite a little attraction nowadays. There's been a lot of cleanup going on and they even do boat tours and canoe tours on it.

they have been doing boat tours for ages, I did one 8 years ago. was scary as hell, and won't ever do it again. It did go by some really nice houses along the way, but I was too scared that I was gonna fall in.

anyway, you won't catch anyone from Houston claiming BBayou is like something in Europe

Well I have had the misfortune of living in this HOLE for 8 years, and have yet to disagree with any of artsy comments regarding the most arrogant city in the county.

Didn't know about the Brazilian carnival. Do they allow you to attend if you aren't wearing an orange shirt or coat??

The only event worth a darn is the Brazilian Carnival which goes through South Austin once a year for Mardi Gras.

Not only that, but San Antonio has a great zoo. My family has a membership and we go probably about every other month. Generally speaking, it's one of the better zoos i've been to in this country. It's quite easy to get around the area and I have never once encountered any bad traffic on the freeways.

North and Northwest parts of San Antonio certainly bears watching over the next few decades. With higher end shopping, restaurants, and subdivisions (not to mention people) being built up like crazy, it could be a real problem for Austin down the road. San Antonio offers a substantially lower cost of living, an efficient (continously improving infastructure), and a rapidly developing North and Northwest areas. It also has nearby hillbilly country just as Austin does. Assuming this high end growth still continues, Wouldn't be surprised to see some business moving down there to escape the high costs of doing business in Austin.
