Is this even possible? Volunteers?

Now I'm assuming that all areas of Texas have HEBs. Is this not true?

I just got back from HEB to grab lunch. At first thought, this seems impossible. I've been in some tiny towns with an HEB.

Out of curiosity I looked at their store locator, and Longview doesn't have an HEB. So maybe it could happen there. I was surprised as that's a decent sized town.

I used to see H-E-Bs everywhere in central Texas. I don't think we have any in the "meat" of DFW, though (I just did a quick search and saw some in Burleson/Waxahachie/south DFW).

Ironically enough, there's not an H-E-B (grocery store) in HEB (Hurst Euless Bedford).

From Wikipedia:

Headquartered in San Antonio, H-E-B operates more than 300 stores in over 150 communities across Texas. As of late 2010, its operations serve approximately "55-plus" percent of the Texas market, according to Progressive Grocer, with primary Texas markets including the San Antonio, Austin and Houston metro areas.

I have relatives in Fort Worth that have never been in one. My SIL acted like I was from Mars when I asked her to go by an HEB and pick something up for me before she came for a visit. I was unaware that they were not throughout the Metroplex until then. I'm sure there are plenty of people in places like Wichita Falls, Amarillo, Lubbock, El Paso and tons of little towns in North, East and West Texas that have never been in one.

My kids (2 and 5) ask not if we are going to the grocery store, but if we are going to HEB. It is like Kleenex or Fritos - a brand that has overrun the generic name...

It's kinda sad that some Texans don't have a local HEB.......food shopping at Wal-Mart is not the same.

Looks like Whataburger is in more places in Texas than HEB:

I'm something like an 11th or 12th generation Texan... grandfather many generations ago was second president of the Republic of Texas. I lived in Texas until I was around 28 years old.

I didn't even know what an HEB was until a few years ago, but still haven't been to one. I grew up in Dallas (Park Cities & M-Streets).

Now I live in an area of Oregon where no one has heard of Whole Foods Market. (!@#$@!) How is that even possible?
