Ah, yes Caddo is nice, and the only naturally created lake of any real size in the state, but if you want to get more techincal, it's no longer considered a natural lake since it does have a manmade dam on it now to control the elevation

Ray Roberts is probably my favorite, close, big, deep, never too crowded, good fishing, facilities are nice, camping out there is absolutely great, it's an all around great lake, in my opinion. Honorable mention has to go Caddo and Possum Kingdom.

Oh, a single favorite is difficult and, ofc, personal reasons can affect natural aspects .

I went to Camp Olympia (back when it was first open!) in my youth, so Lake Livingston holds a special spot.

Lake Murvaul is where I first drove a boat and learned to ski. Beautiful, still waters and also a favorite memory from childhood since we went there every year for many years. Pictures from 50 years ago below .

Lake Travis is our current destination - close to home, the water (especially this summer) is really pretty clear. Learned to scuba dive there, currently spent about 20-25 days each year out there somewhere, usually around Arkansas Bend.

I was always partial to Belton Lake. Fishing conditions can make it a real test of your skills, but normally good for a day on the water. Stillhouse Hollow just south is always fun for going after some Small Mouth.

All these "lakes" mentioned are not lakes; they are reservoirs. Texas has only one lake and it is shared with Louisiana.
