I was wondering why would the Texas health dept call my home asking for me? I was out of town for the day and when i returned home had a message from them asking me to return their call. It didnt sound to urgent, but it got me thinking what must be going on that they called. They also knew my shortened name that people i know call me as opposed to my full name....Just curious/nervous?

I can think of several possibilities:

Scammer, not really the health department
Neighbor called to report some conditions at your home
Restaurant had sick patrons and they are calling all of the others there that night
Some illness at a local school that they want you to be aware of
Asking you to vote for some tax to help combat mosquitoes or some other program

Someone tested positive for an STD and named you as a partner. They are notifying you.

But you already knew that. That's why you're posting this thread. Just call them back.
