I have. When you have wrecks; it's a disaster. Also the train that runs through Hearne. You get traffic in College Station as well. I don't really care about it becoming an interstate, but bypassing the small towns would be great.

Yeah, pretty much. Those PV to Arlington trips use to suck on Friday afternoons. Especially on bigger holidays like Spring Break. Highway 6 is fine until you get into College Station (coming from PV). There was a lot of construction, that made a lot of traffic. But, even after some was complete, you still get good volumes and some traffic. In Calvert, Hearne, or the other small towns, going from freeway speeds, down to those town speeds really add time on the trip. Bypasses would be great.

I get nervous as hell driving between Hearne and Calvert. That is a notorious speed trap lol

Speed limit gets up to 60, but I do about 55. Take no chances. My mom has gotten ticketed at least 5 times in that area.

Just cause you've never seen it doesn't mean it never happens....

Highway 6 is already being upgraded.... two lanes on each side...seriously outside BCS there isn't really any sustainable economic growth that requires a major upgrade to the highway. I do agree lights are long over due for the highway.

Not a complete freeway, but at least bypasses around small towns like Calvert and Hearne. Like how 290 is in Brenham.

That would be nice but those towns will not approve of such measures. They depend heavily economically on traffic tickets unfortunately.

You have either completely insulted the people of Calvert (for example) or you didn't think things through....so at $200 a speeding ticket and let's just say for fun that they issue 50 tickets a day...$10,000. So a town of 1208 people is going to heavily rely on this income? So the whole town depends on 4 officers busting people not paying attention to the signs...sure. I would have thought the big coal plant or the coal mine located nearby or the oil/gas operations would have been the bread and butter of the community...guess I was wrong.

True, but those tickets play a big part in the economy too. These areas really have no type of substantial economy being generated within their cities. That's why that area is such a big speed trap. Anyways, the expansion of lanes still won't solve the issue of having to go through the small towns. It's really a nuisance to drive through them and endure all the things we have to endure.
