You seem to be correct.... I found this house in Garland

312 Doral Place, Garland, TX 75043 Foreclosed Home Information

The house looks like King of the Hill home.

Arlen may be based off of Dallas suburbs, but the show is supposed to be set in Central Texas (notices they mention Belton and Fort Blanda is supposed to be a knock off of Fort Hood).

Mike Judge lived for a while in Garland, and I'm 100% convinced that Arlen is primarily based on Garland although he's mentioned Richardson as the model for Arlen. There are many references to other parts of the state in order to be vague about the exact location, but the name is clearly a mix of Garland and Arlington.

BTW I am a little older than Judge and also grew up in Garland. The principal of my junior high school was Mr. Moss. And of course you know that the principal of the Tom Landry Middle School is....Mr. Moss.

I would think "Arlen" would be a combination of Arlington & Allen.

However, it also sounds like Garland.

The show is based off of stereotypical redneck suburbia in Texas. It is quite common actually to see a "good old boy" like Hank Hill living coincide to Asian families in the Dallas area.

I have seen them mention various parts of the State. They have been to the Alamo, Marfa Texas, The Border towns, Hank was even was in Houston for a Texans game and was almost a Texans fan for one episode, but since hank and all of his gang are hardcore cowboys fans and Texan Rivals, I think they are in DFW. I think they mentioned that Cotton lives in Houston and Hank doesn't like going there.

Edit: Got this from Wikipedia:

Quote:
King of the Hill (also known as Hank of the Hill in some parts of Western Europe and King Hank in Arizona) is an American animated series created by Mike Judge and Greg Daniels, that ran from January 12, 1997 to May 6, 2010 on Fox. It centers on the Hills, a small-town Methodist family in the fictional town of Arlen, Texas, based loosely on the real life Dallas suburb, Garland, Texas. It attempts to retain a realistic approach, seeking humor in the conventional and mundane aspects of everyday life while dealing with comical issues.

Judge was a former resident of Garland, Texas, upon which the fictional community of Arlen was loosely based; however, the show was based more specifically on Richardson, Texas a Dallas suburb as Judge stated in a later interview.

I can't remember the exact episode anymore but on one episode they mentioned a zip code & I looked it up to see if it was real and it was a College Station Zip code. But really Arlen could be anywhere in Texas, I think they try to make it vague on purpose.
