Smoke, Smoke, Smoke that cigarette! (Howe: buying, college, casino)

Hmmm, 10% smokers to 90% non smokers. The smoking percentage on CD is much lower than I thought. Was thinking it would be higher than the state average of about 20%

I don't smoke. DH does...has COPD and Emphysema and still smokes! I hate it! His health is terrible. Listening to him constantly coughing and making that awful sound just trying to breathe...that's not life, it's just existence. It's a disgusting nasty habit...

I still smoke 2 packs a day and still love cigarettes. So what if it kills me? SOMETHING will, sooner or later.

Back in grade school (1950's) I got 25 cents for lunch. Since the world hadn't gone stupid in the name of "safety" and "health" yet, I walked a couple of blocks to a local store for lunch. My quarter would buy a hamburger, bag of chips and a coke, with a nickle left over. I'd save those nickles, which would buy me a pack of smokes every 4th day.

I quit because I just couldn't stand the fact that I was voluntarily giving the government so much extra tax money. I quit cold turkey, every time I would get a craving for a smoke I would just imagine some government bureaucrat laughing at me and taking my money.

Now I enjoy all the benefits of not smoking, but depriving the government of that money is what I enjoy the most.

Our high school had a smoking section. It was outside but in a covered area. Teachers would be out there w/ the kids smoking.

I don't smoke. Allergic to it. Even moreso now than I was growing up and even a few years ago. Now I've got really bad asthma so even being near one can throw me into a fit.

My parents did not smoke. One set of grandparents smoked, my dads. He said because he grew up in a house full of it and was around the stinch he had no desire to even try. My in-laws. She smoked till she found out she was pregnant and then quit. My FIL smoked up until the day he died attached to the oxygen machine. Even with diabetes, 4 heart attacks, heart surgeries, cancer, etc. It was awful.

Yes, it is tough to think about--I had a cousin diagnosed with throat cancer--and even while undergoing all that treatment with the pain and misery--he smoked until the day he died.

Well, we may be in trouble... a pack of smokes and a gallon of gas usually cost the same. Some places cigs are $6 a pack.

Not me, though I might consider it if the smoke Nazi's would get off my back. I'm just hard headed enough not to give them the satisfaction!

From an early age instinct was to run when there was a fire, then I seen some people who are actually sucking on it. Hmmm

When I used to go to the casinos I often seen tracheotomy patents who stuck the thing in the hole in their neck to suck on it. Must be a horrible addiction.

But for those who think they can't stop, because no one really wants to smoke despite some saying they do, I have the following to say:

You may want to attempt to explain it your family now. It might make a needless death, and their coming belief that you loved one chemical more than them. It is easier to accept once you're gone. Is this simply more scare tactics or asking you to examine reality? Each and every day smoking claims 13,698 lives(source AMA) on earth. Which cigarette in which pack will contain the irritant that gives birth to that first cancerous cell, to the first diseased cell, or that pulls the death's trigger in producing a massive stroke or heart attack?

How should your family describe your cause of death?
Was it suicide, murder, an accident or stupidity?
How about:
Death by Smoking

Quiteoften I wonder if I had just one wish be granted, rather then wishing I could hit the lottery, I instead wish the word smoking as well as the act of smoking would just vanish from our culture completely. How can anyone actually want to smell like that?
