I think Texans are already praying for rain... so...

Oh, but that's right, Rick Perry thinks HE is God!

Interestingly, the Mayor of Atlanta (or the Governor of Georgia, don't remember) called for something similar to this back when Georgia was under a really bad drought in 2007.

Default Governor Perry asks Texans to Pray for Rain

This past Thursday, April 21, 2011, the Governor of Texas, Rick Perry issued an Official Proclamation for Days of Prayer for Rain in Texas.

As a citizen of Texas, it is with great humbleness that I submit myself to pray for rain for our drought-ridden state. What saddens me is that as a woman who prays about everything, I have not prayed for rain up until our Governor put out an official proclamation to pray for rain.

I wonder why this is. I guess it’s just one of those simple things that should come naturally but you just don’t stop to think about it.
On a daily and sometimes hourly basis, I pray for this nation, that she will turn back to God; I pray for our President, that he will humble himself before God and seek God’s will rather than his own selfish ways for this nation he was called to lead; I pray consistently for the complete healing and restoration of body, mind and soul for Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords...

You should really look at least a couple of threads down.

Yes, I saw it... and I am praying for the safety of all! I saw one comment on the other thread that basically said Perry caused this by aking Texans to pray for rain. We still need rain! Of course I do not wish for tornadoes and such, and again, I'm praying for the safety of all. However, we still need rain! Here in South Texas we have already had watering restrictions for 2 or 3 weeks... and this is just April! What will it be this summer if we do not get some much needed rain?

It's been a lot of thunder and lightning and wind here, with not a lot of actual rain.

Sound and fury, signifying nothing.

My, for a thread that purports to be about praying for rain, the OP is just loaded with political agenda, ain't it? And evangelism that has nothing in particular to do with Texas. As usual, social conservatism masquerading as Christianity and merely bringing disrepute to the latter.

I pray for an end to Rick Perry.

And for an end to people praying for everything instead of doing something about it.

If your faith has to be jumped started by a politician.... you have a lot of praying to do.
An honest politician is like a boxer that doesn't llike punching people = they don't exist.

Exodus 14

13 And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever.

14 The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.

15 And the LORD said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward:

LOL God says: WTF? Stop praying and get going!

Wow... a true sign of what our country has become.

Where in the world did it come across that my faith has been "jump started" by a politician!? My faith has NOTHING to do with not praying for rain previously. I simply said it had not crossed my mind to pray for what most of us see as "simply the weather". Yes, we often pray for those who are affected by the weather.... but I must say I personally do not actually make it a habit of praying for the weather.

See it as a "political agenda" if you will. I will simply restate my original statement in this post. We certainly have reached a very sad point in our nation.
