My guess would be Houston for soul food -- unless I just don't know where the good stuff is in Dallas.

Well a good friend of mine that's from DeSoto moved to Houston and she's been swearing that Houston can't hold a candle to Dallas in that category.

I've been to Sweet Georgia Brown's in Dallas and it's great, but outside of that I don't know about any other places. I heard that Halls Chicken Shack is good though.

I tend to lean towards Houston myself, but I haven't been to Dallas very much at all. SGB is the truth though.

Houston likely has more to offer in the soul food department, but from what I remember, the best I had in Dallas was as good as the best I had in H-town.

As I've said before, soul food is soul food, and when it comes to quality, no city really tops another. Houston, Dallas, Atlanta, Memphis, Birmingham, Charlotte, etc...it's all the same.

Now quantity is a different story, but all a city really needs is atleast 2 or 3 excellent soul food places anyway.

Best soul food I ever ate in my life was at This is It in Houston! Sweet Georgia Brown's in Dallas is good but not even in the same league.

I would think that it would be Houston, but Soul food is not something I go looking for when I visit, unless it is a place I hear a lot about

Every one that i know in Houston says Houston sux in this area. I've never eaten at a soulfood place in Houston, and I've never heard about one either. Dallas also has more soulful local chicken shacks too. There's timmy chans in Houston but to me it dosent compare.

You obviously just made that up.

soul food houston,tx - Google Maps

It's way too many soul food joints in Houston no to know about any; including the famous This is it and Frenchy's.

I don't eat out at Soul Food places like that and I'd assume they're equal.

Any evidence to back up Dallas having more local chicken shacks?

And you have to have been living under a rock to not have ever heard of This Is It in Houston.
