Report: 3,097 federal workers in Texas earn more than Perry | Houston & Texas News | Chron.com - Houston Chronicle

Is that before or after graft?

I think the article is amusing. Of the 3,097 federal workers who make more than Perry 1,339 medical professionals (doctors), 511 transportation specialists (air traffic controllers and aircraft operations specialists), and 317 engineers. I think I'm ok with all of the above making more than Perry. Not sure what the other 30% do, but 70% of this seems to be a non-issue to me.

I think Perry makes too much and we have too many federal employees. With all of the cronyism he's been associated with, he doesn't even need a salary.

They don't live on the government dole either--Perry is living rent free and gets his chefs' salaries covered--has his transportation costs paid by the state and lots of other expenses that a "regular" state worker would never get taken care of

and Perry will certainly use this job as jumping off point for something more lucretive as well

I remember when Tom Vandergriff was mayor of Arlington with the mayor's salary of $1.00 a year. Think he did it for the $1.00? Hell no!

of course not--but if you think Tom Vandergriff was making as much money on the side as Rick Perry is--or making decisions that benefited his own personal agenda more that of people of Arlington when he was mayor then I think you are tarring all politicians with the same brush--
all politicians are not as manipulative and nacissistic as Rick Perry
Tom Vandergriff was a successful businessman before and after his mayor stint

Some of those employees are part of the UT athletic department, including Mack Brown's $5M per year.

The article is about Federal employees. Though Mack Brown's $5M per year is ridiculous.

I never said or even IMPLIED anything of the sort in my post. I knew Tom Vangergriff, he was once a guest in my home when I lived in Arlington. He was an excellant mayor, a good businessman and a good person. Please try to refrain from making a statement I make into something else entirely. Try hard and just focus on reading the written word, not between the lines all the time. Stop being so narrow-minded, sometimes it really is as simple as it appears.

I know why so many people get so fed up with this forum and declare they are done with it. I know I've sure got to take a hiatus from it, thanks to ignorance such as this. I'm really having a hard time understanding the mind-set here. I would say get a life, but you seem to have found your niche. Thank God I have more to do than try to figure it out, but seriously, it is freaky!

Hasta la vista, baby!

The federal workers' services are worth more than those of Governor Perry.
