We've decided to do a last-minute vacation weekend to celebrate my birthday in two weeks - I'd love to go to the beach and rent a cottage/house but since it's so last minute I thought they're probably sold out.

We're willing to drive to any part of Texas from DFW - where would you recommend?

I do have a 50 lb dog I'd like to be able to bring along, so any place that is dog friendly is a plus.

Thanks for any advice!

check out the site
lakehouse.com
there are rentals on there for short term locations
and VRBO.com which also does short term rentals

check out tripadvisor
run a search here for VACATION and see what comes up

The Hill Country is closer than any beach to you. I would go there before any Tx beach (except S. Padre, haven't been there yet).

If you want a beach, head to Port Aransas. Better than Corpus Christi beaches and closer than South Padre Island.

From DFW I would leave the dog and fly to florida. Air fare right now can be dirt cheap.

port aransas or rockport for the beaches, you can always drive into CC for anything else.
