down town = depends on want you want downtown. But i would say fort worth = sundance square or San Antonio = River Walk
Climate = no city is better in Texas when it comes to summer (Hot)Especially when you compair DFW, San Antonio, Austin, and Houston. But in the winter you are less likely to get cold weather in Houston
Skyline = Houston or Dallas. Houston's is bigger, Dallas is better looking I think, both have horrible traffic.
Attractions = Dallas Fort Worth for sure. Western Culture, Big City Culture, Music, Art, Zoo/World aquarium, Six Flags Over Texas, Cowboys, endless places to shop and eat. List go on and on.
Food = Food is good in any of these cities if you know where to go
Cultures = Fort Worth, Best architectural city in Texas. Has maintain western roots but accepted being a big city. Fort worth is a friendly city compared to a lot of big cities. This one might be my bias though.
Crime = Fort Worth or San Antonio, both have one of the safest down towns

Houston has more variety of lifestyle opportunities, lakes, bay and the gulf for water recreation, and I like humidity and, rain on occation. Houston is more substanitive than DFW and less pretentious than Austin. Live in Houston and visit the Hill Country on weekends....

1) Downtown: Austin, Fort Worth, and San Antonio have great downtowns. Houston and Dallas have tall buildings, but little else.
2) Climate: Houston has that swampy humid feel. DFW, Austin, and San Antonio are a furnace blast in the summer. DFW gets a colder winter.
3) Skyline: Houston has the biggest one. Dallas has more varied architecture.
4) Attractions: Its a wash. All the ones in question have them.
5) Food: Houston and Dallas are both excellent food cities. There really isnt anything you cant find in either.
6) Culture: Houston is the best followed by Fort Worth in my opinion.
7) Crime: Fort Worth, Austin, and San Antonio all have less crime than Houston or Dallas.
