We just happen to be on a message board that won't allow that discussion, so instead it's back to the Liberal pep-rally here in the good ole' Texas message board!

Either Perry cut funding or he didn't. That has nothing to do with liberals vs. conservatives.

Volunteer = free labor

That 75% of the so called funding was a one time deal to help with volunteer equipment.

Maybe not, but it sure demonstrates how desperate the liberals are to find something, even a non-issue, to slam the top Republican candidate over. The spin on this subject is absolutely amazing. But not surprising.

The video of Jim Hightower wearing that huge hat and talking about this was comical. If people would only take the time to actually look into the matter before jumping on the bandwagon, it would at least show they have the ability to think for themselves. But that's hoping for too much, I guess.

It is already been mentioned to everyone not to include political rhetoric. Your first paragraph talks about a subject you have no factual information to support whatsoever.

Just because someone doesn't agree with an argument's conclusions doesn't mean that someone can create their own narrative and facts.

The result of such an argument becomes convoluted and delusional.

People, let's stay on track.

I am just another forum participant. However, in reading through recent posts, I thought it would be prudent to remind everyone what our moderator advised us previously regarding this subject thread.

Firefighting DC-10 remains grounded

BASTROP COUNTY — A converted DC-10 jetliner that can drop 11,000 gallons of fire retardant remained grounded Thursday because officials have no pilot to fly it and because the pump loading system was still being assembled.
On Sept. 9 the DC-10 was redirected to Houston. Maybe Houston will get some use out of it.

This aircraft is owned and operated by a private company. The pilot was required to take a mandatory 2 day rest because he had been flying for the previous 14 days out west. I would bet that there aren't too many people in the US trained to fly a 170ft long 155ft wingspand aircraft 500 feet off the ground at +400mph carrying 12,000 gallons of retardant and precisely dropping it. And since it is privately owned and based out of California, and there are only two of them in the world, why would ABIA be equipped to handle this specific piece of equipment?
These extremely large airtankers are a relatively new piece of equipment in wildland firefighting. I would expect them to become more common, so it would be wise for Texas to equip a centralized airport to handle them.

How to hell did Scary Perry become the longest serving governor in Texas history? Dubya is mensa meat compared to this nincompoop.

The thought of this guy being president sends ice cold chills up and down my spine.
