Labor day week is nice but it does hit the 100's in the low areas but the mountains it is nice. We cant wait to go back again we are going to try in Jan. i hope you do plan on oging it is well worth it. here is a link to this guy who goes very often so you can see some of the pictures.

As nice as the park itself is, the drive between Presidio and Terlingua on FM-170 is also spectacular much of the way. It closely parallels the Rio Grande the entire way. It's easy to make a round trip of it via Marfa going either clockwise or CCwise from Alpine.

Marfa! Spook lights. I love it.

Just wondering if a trip during Thanksgiving would be good. Weather? Crowds? Or maybe Spring Break (early-March)?

Talk to folks over at bigbendchat.com - lots of info and knowledge.

Holiday weeks and Spring break week are traditionally highest visitor counts for the parks.
