Fellow Texans!

Yep, you read it right...irony included! LOL

Seriously, here is another one of my silly weekend polls. I am THINKING (occasionally I do that!), it was done a few years ago...but even if so, it deserves another shot as there are new members and plus I have the right to start one so long as it is tasteful and does not violate any C-D rules and I can write in as many dependent clauses and run-on sentences as I want, given the limitations above. BWHAHAHAHA

*Ahem* Ok, ok. Here it is...and an preface as to what triggered it:

Last weekend, my yankee fiance (well, Colorado born) and I were in CVS Pharmacy, and she called my attention to the fact that they were starting to dig out the Christmas decorations and all. Now, dammit, it ain't even HALLOWEEN yet, fer gawds sake!!!

It irritated me to the point I actually approached the manager (I am on a first-name basis with him, as I get my vitamins there) and said something about it, so it was friendly inquiring, in that regard. Anyway, I just said something like "oh man, y'all are breaking out Santa Claus stuff and the vampire candy is still selling...?"

He actually looked a bit apologetic and said in return "Hey, I know what you mean, but we got to do it because everybody else is starting to do the same..."

Geez. Ok, that is what this poll is all about. I don't know about y'all...but to me, "Christmas-time" starts after Thanksgiving. Not before. When I was growing up, even the major retail stores in town had the "good taste" and respect for tradition to refrain from advertizing Christmas until after Turkey Day was over...

What do y'all think? When does Christmas time start for you all? Better asked, after what time of the year do you feel it is in the spirit to start advertizing the holiday...?

I think they shouldn't start advertising Christmas until after Thanksgiving is over. Of course, I can't say much considering a few years ago my family put up our Christmas tree before Halloween.

I'd seriously rather see it in December, but after Thanksgiving is over is no biggie. I hate having shopping and decorations thrown down my throat at the end of summer. I've seen some places have a few things out at the end of August/September and have some super die hard shopping friends that are done with Christmas shopping and have been done since the middle of summer. I'd rather ease into the season than have it over before it starts. I'm also one to leave my decorations up until January 2. I'd rather linger in the feelings afterwards than rush around all season changing decoration every 2 days to keep up with all the holiday changes from Halloween through Thanksgiving. Some friends of mine take their decorations down as soon as their done unwrapping presents. It all makes my head spin!!

I love Christmas time and looking forward to all the things that go along with it but I can wait till after Thanksgiving. October, November, and December are my favorite months because they all have fun holidays. Black Friday should be the start of the Christmas extravaganza.

Think I said it before, but I'll say it again . . . not until after Thanksgiving, please!

Actually, shoppers could stop this nonsense of having Christmas decorations crammed down their throats before Halloween even gets here if they would all stick together and just simply not buy any of the displayed products until later Thanksgiving. Obviously merchants aren't going to lose precious shelf space to products that will not sell. So if you don't like it, send them a message.

This goes for the other holidays as well. They are stocking the shelves with Valentine candy and decorations as they clear out the marked down Christmas leftovers. Same thing when Easter rolls around, they're stocking the Easter candy and Easter bunnies while they remove the last of the Valentine junk.

Needless to say, it affects the 'special feel' to the holiday at hand. No wonder there are so many 'bah humbug' attitudes.

I know people who do Christmas shopping as early as September, but Christmastime doesn't begin until Black Friday. I'm barely getting into the autumn spirit during October, and for all of November, I'm anticipating Thanksgiving, which is my favorite holiday.

Halloween is for kids, and as an adult it's so corny and annoying. Can't wait for the 1st of November.

I voted for OTHER. I don't mind seeing the Christmas stuff and Christmas sales around mid-November. Some people have to plan or budget their purchases and often one month isn't enough time (or money) to get it all done. Six weeks is better. For some folks, anyway.

I kind of have an issue with Christmas being shoved down my throat before Halloween..
I enjoy Christmas especially since my Neice and Nephew were born.

I have issues with this only because now there are so many people out ther who simply can not wrap their head around this mass early marketing of this holiday..Financially it's somewhat impossable for millions of Americans.. They dont nedd to be setting up Trees at K-mart before Oct 31st... Talk about making a person down on their luck depressed..

Now is ridiculously early for Christmas--I'd prefer to see it after Dec 1, period.

I don't care when they advertise for christmas because we only celebrate Hallowe'en, so once it's over, I don't pay attention to that part of the stores or commercials for other holidays.
