We are possibly considering moving to Harlingen or McAllen from Indiana. We have 2 girls ages 12 and 10. All things considered which area would be less of a culture shock and easier for my kids to fit in.

Probably McAllen so you can interact with snowbirds from the North. If you are white, expect a cultural shock. Though when I lived there. Everyone was bilingual -- meaning that people speak both English and Spanish fluently.

I live here and I am not bilingual
I am half Italian and Hispanic.

Both are great places and very similar but McAllen is a little less humid which is important.
