"Texas Christen [sic] University" at #9, behind schools like UH, TEXAS TECH!?!, etc?

The business school at TCU is ranked #29 in the nation. We've been a nationally ranked university for a while now, and it's constantly improving. The acceptance rate last year was 37% in 2011, and it's been getting more competitive every year.

As for UH's newly designated classification as a "Tier 1" university...TCU's been a Tier 1 university for forever.

US News and World Report.

UH is not even a nationally ranked school by Princeton Review or US News and World Report.

The only Tier 1 universities in Texas are UT, A+M, and Rice (and UH, by some accounts).

TCU is a great university, but regional at best.

Regional? Not according to Princeton Review and US News and World Report, where TCU and SMU are nationally ranked, unlike UH. To leave SMU and TCU out is ridiculous.

Yes, regional.

Outside of the Southwest/Texas, SMU and TCU don't have the same clout as a UT or a Michigan. I'm not saying UH is a public Ivy by any means, but it is on its way (and by some accounts, already on its way) to being the next Tier 1 university in Texas. Other than the 3 aforementioned schools, no Texas schools have that distinction.

If the legislature continues underfunding higher education in the state of Texas, there will be one tier one university in the second largest state - Rice. A&M has already been censured by the American Association of Universities. UT has successfully pushed back against the idiot interference of Rick Perry, but the situation is delicate. There could be zero tier one public institutions in the state of Texas in less than a decade.

UT-Dallas needs a higher rating. That school is academically top notch. Certainly better than TT. Lots of kids at TT go there to party. Students go to UTD to learn. Not much partying going on. Plus TT has lots of athletic programs, but their teams aren't much. Usually finish in the bottom half of the standings. TT engineering programs are good, as is the medical school and nursing school. Not much in the arts program.

I am a parent of a TCU student. I respect the school. But the acceptance rate stat is misleading. TCU had a huge surge in applications last year - the most in its history. I think most know that was driven by national attention earned by continued football success and their Rose Bowl victory last year.

TCU is indeed moving up. The business school, especially at the undergraduate level, is strong. They just need to get the attention of employers.
