I know this will generate controversy, but IMHO, this stance is worthy of the line in the dust at the Alamo. As a bit of an aside here? Regardless of which side one takes on the issue itself, this shows GUTS...in the finest Texas tradition.

Texas Town Braces For Battle With Atheists Over Nativity Scene | Fox News

Why in the hell should this nativity scene come down just because a few malconents who despise anything associated with Christmas -- in the traditional sense -- be removed just because some want to spead their personal brand of censorship and hate to the rest of us? Does it really hurt or "offend" somebody because, on an East Texas country courthouse, that there exists a nativity scene? Yeah, apparently, it really does,,,at least to a few screwball nuts out there...

As I see it, the heroes in all this are the Henderson County commissioners to have proven themselves worthy of noble Texas ansestors and their roots! Uhh...."Come and Take It" perhaps? *winks*

I'm very proud of the people in Henderson County for standing up for our rights! We have just as much right to celebrate Christmas as they do to not celebrate it. GO HOME to Wisconsin and raise hell up there....we don't want you down here!

Bully for them!! I'm sick of all those who get so "offended" at anything that doesn't fall strictly in line with their so-called beliefs!

MERRY CHRISTMAS, y'all!!

Had a group from Henderson county expressed outrage, I would have paid more attention.

Doesn't surprise me. Those folks down there are stubborn and do things their own way. I'm 100% behind them on this one.

That said, Athens TX probably has the most corrupt politicians in the state of Texas running things. Not so much the county, but the water authority is run by a gang of thugs who probably should be in prison for their activities. They get elected, unopposed, so they can manipulate the system to make money for themselves and their friends. No one has the guts or pull to challenge them.

Way to go! It's high time we stood up to these thugs and stopped letting the tail wag the dog.
