Hi everyone happy holidays I'm new to this, my husb has an interview in Texarkana for an MD position, we're a family of three one child age 14, My question is how possible is it to live in a Dallas suburb with great schools and commute...or what are the closest suburb to Texarkana, we're early forties of black descent and happy to live in any good community with good schools. thank you.

I am not sure you realize this, but Texarcana is 3 hours from Dallas. You might get a better response from people in the east if you post in the Texas general forum.

I have been to Texarkana a couple of times only to stop and get gas on roads trips. Its a long drive from any DFW suburbs.

I can't imagine it would be feasible for an MD position... Definitely not if he would ever be "on call" as there's simply no way he could be at work in a timely manner.

I looked up Texarkana and did not find much in terms of good schools or areas to live, are there good private schools? where in Texas can we live (suburbs with good schools) that we can commute to Texarkana. Thank you!

I have a neighbor who practices in Paris 2 days/week and, believe it or not, comes home each evening. So it's not entirely out of the question for the OP to relocate to DFW for a Texarkana job, especially if they're extremely concerned about educational opportunities for their high schooler.

Logistically, given that the OP is only dealing with one kid (and a teenager at that), it might make more sense for the husband to stay in a cheap apartment in Texarkana during the week and commute home to DFW on weekends.
