Do come visit the state sometime. Texas has a lot to see and offer (just don't tell the Texas haters. We don't want them here. They might want to stay.)

I definitely will. As for people hating an entire state, it is so ridiculous. It's their loss. There are so many awesome things to see and do in each and every state!

Knowing that we'll have several hours available, what are the "must-see" places to visit on that route?

Thanks!
You definitely need to see Palo Duro Canyon, which is located just south of Amarillo. It's about a 30 minute drive from I-40, but worth your while.

Also, the Cadillac Ranch is on I-40. It is located about a mile or so west of Amarillo on the south side of I-40.

Plus, there are tons of places to eat in Amarillo. If you are a big eater...you can always stop at the Big Texas Ranch (on I-40, in far east Amarillo) and try to eat a 72 ounce steak. If you can it, it's free! You'll see tons of signs advertising this place along the way.

Have a good trip!
