Believe it or not, I keep my airplane about 1 mile from there, so I know all about that place. Unfortunately, the airstrip is not open to the public...yet they just spent thousands to renovate it and repave it....you ask me why...no one knows. I personally think that LBJ would love to have people fly in and visit. They do hold a FLY IN once a year, but it's only open to people that fly a certain kind of Vietnam aircraft.

Awesome list of Central Texas spots. I've been so busy (and poor) that I've only made it to a couple places in the six months I've been here. I've heard the Frio River west of San Antonio is a great place to tube/swim/canoe, and Possum Kingdom Lake four hours north of here is known for its clear water and cliff jumping, though the area was badly burned in the wildfires last year (or 2010?).
