NO! That's only limited to Houston & DAllas. I am so jealous of you. In San Antonio, it is the opposite. People here make it a point to drive 10-15 MPH UNDER the limit. The chief annoyance is when they do so in the "fast lane".

Wow! I am happy I found this thread. I know now it's just not me. Coming from California, I find it annoying that people tail gate, and are just so unpolite on the road running stop signs, driving as fast as if they had an emergency. I so do not like it. I thought it was a Laredo thing because of the people coming from Mexico.

That whole 'bad Texas drivers' stereotype only applies to Houston and Dallas, where they drive as if they're in the Indy 500. Other cities are a bit more considerate and easy-going. In El Paso you'll see idiots driving 50 in the fast lane.

It's all those transplants moving to Texas who bring their unfriendly driving skills -- look in the mirror, y'all.

Everyone talks about slow people in the fast lane, but what about people who abide the law staying in the slow lane and still get tailgated by some doodah who thinks all the lanes should be fast, or that the fast lane is moving to slow so they weave in and out and get pushy to the people who are driving slower in the slow lane....This very annoying thing happens in Austin all the time.

I find drivers in Houston are fast and don't let you in if you need to change lanes or enter the freeway. I find if there isn't a traffic jam, most people drive between 70 and 75 and the Beltway it's usually closer to 80. Now as far as street driving, I think it's much more laid back than other cities. The roads have much more room than other city's streets.

The style of driving varies inside of Dallas. North Dallas, yes, everyone is in a flaming hurry and crawls up your tailpipe if you're not speeding like they are, but in Oak Cliff, things are much more relaxed. The freeways in the DFW area are all like the Indy 500 when they're not sclerotic during the ever-expanding and ironically named 'rush hour'.

Amen to that! Same here in San Antonio!

When people tailgate me, that's a sign to slow down and do the speed limit.
