Hello , Im from Detroit

Im looking at jobs in Arlington, Texas

Went to San Antonio 2 weeks ago, and I must say that I love the people in Texas.

I would love to hear some Positive Feedback about Arlington.

Not worried about schools (no kids, or wife)

Would like to know if there is a Downtown like San Antonio ?

I wish i could move the people from Texas to Detroit

Aside from the Cowboys, Rangers, and Six Flags, Arlington is an overgrown suburb.

I spent several years that during and immediately after college, and while it's nice, it's very run-of-the-mill. The central location is a huge benefit, though.

And no -- the downtown area (or lack thereof) is nothing like San Antonio's, a city of over 1 million. If you're looking for that, you'll need to look in Dallas or Fort Worth.

Arlington is just an average suburb. South Arlington is generally as nice as any suburb. The location is the best part about Arlington, but other than that, it's nothing special. There is that whole Six Flags/Cowboys Stadium/Ballpark area and it is just one big congested mess. Just beware of the police here in Arlington. If you don't feel like looking for the po-po while driving, just don't go five over on the side streets, or ten over on the freeways (especially at night), and you'll be good. Oh, and wear a seatbelt because if one pulls up next to you and see you don't have it on, you'll get a ticket.

Icksville, a small city with not much going on other that some amusement parks. Nothing like San Antonio at all.

Arlington has started to develop an entertainment hub--around the Cowboy/Ranger stadium sites which is just south of I-30 and Hwy 57/Collins Ave--
restaurants/sports bars/retail shopping in that area as well as Parks Mall and Highlands Mall which are farther south along I-20

depending on your age/money--you might consider Sundance Sq area in FTW or the So7th area
FTW has more centralized downtown with Sundance Sq and some rentals
also has Stockyards north of town and So7 area growing west of downtown
lots to do--

going INTO Arlington from FTW area would be fairly easy along I20 or I30 since most traffic going other way
