We are the fastest growing county of our size in the nation ( i believe, if not the top 3).

Comparing our debt to yours is a bit ridiculous. Dallas as a metro has the luxury of spreading the debt and burden around to the surrounding cities that land lock it. Houston area does not.

in the long run, we are built for success.
No you're not.

To put that in some perspective, the total bond debt the city has accumulated in the course of its entire history for everything we have built (italics ours), such as streets, water plants, airports, libraries, police and fire stations and parks, is only about $12 billion. In less than a generation, we will have run up half the debt on pension obligations it took our forefathers to incur in 175 years of building this city.

In Dallas...

The Mavs home court at American Airlines Center should be completely paid off and owned lock, stock and barrel by the city before summer’s end, Dallas chief financial officer Jeanne Chipperfield told City Council members.

The council will vote June 22 to retire $10.45 million in remaining bonds, effectively erasing debt that was originally expected to be on the books until 2028 and saving millions of dollars in interest.

To me, Houston is a city that seems to just be growing just for the sake of growing while Dallas is a city that seems to be growing with a focus and an aim. Makes a big difference.
