I'm considering a job in Borger. We just visited and found Borger to be OK, Pampa much more desirable. The approximately 30 minute drive from Pampa to Borger seemed to be quite 'desolate'.

I guess 30 minutes isn't a big deal in Dallas or Houston, but it seemed like quite a drive in the Panhandle. It looked like it could be quite the challenge in the dark, not much between the two towns.

Can anyone provide any input?

I have spent most of the last 15 years with a 30 (miles) minute highway commute in the Texas panhandle. Less remote than Pampa to Borger, but it can be done with little problem. I have driven that exact road you would be driving a few times, and it would be very doable.

I find the windshield time relaxing for the most part, but don't find the frequent fill-ups at the pump quite so. The trip will stretch your day out by an hour, longer in inclement weather, but if you enjoy Pampa more than Borger, it will be worth it. Where I live fits me better than where I would have to live without the 30 minute drive.

For me it comes down to longer drive is better home life. Worth the extra money and time to me.
