In-N-Out is a small, tasty uber greasy messy burger. Their "spread" is an enhanced 1000 Island and we really like it, especially to dip the dry icky french fries into. I love their burgers, the meat is tasty and fresh but within a short amount of time we are hungry again. Fries with spread is how we order them.

Whataburger has a much larger beef patty. The burger is very filling and not nearly as greasy ie messy as an double double. I like the mustard but occassionally will add mayo to up the grease/mess factor.

Whataburger has better fries and we love the apple pies!

In-N-Out is family owned and not franchised (last I knew) keeping their product consistent is one of their major marketing tools and I do believe it has helped sustain the popularity. I don't know anything about the Whataburger company but the burgers are good and filling
Whataburgers, unlike In N Out are franchised.

Is that a bad thing? Not necessarily.

The people who have Whataburger here in Tyler are a family that owns about 10 of them.

May not be bad compared to other mediocre fast food chains, but it's a definite advantage for In-N-Out Burger....

Whataburgers advantages are staying open 24/7/365 instead of shutting down at midnight & offering a menu with 10 times more stuff on it.

The Texas Toast burgers at Whataburger are unbeatable. In N Out can't compare to that.

Whataburgers buttered toast is off the chain, especially dipped in some gravy with chicken strips...Mmm

The breakfast taquitos are pretty sick too.

In N Out can't beat this selection.

U cant beat InNOut by adding to the menu. Quality beats quantity....
Next ur going to say whatachicken sandwich is better than Chicfila because they also sell burgers and breakfast burritos they oddly call taquitos....

Texans could care less about In N Out. To us its just another fast food burger. We have plenty of that here already.

Its the California transplants who made such a big deal over it.

Now the long lines at In N Out are gone. I didn't even have to wait in line at all a few weeks ago.
