For those of you looking to move to Texas and inquiring about the schools you may want to get ahold of the December issue of Texas Monthly (texasmonthly com). They have done their own study as they have in the past and picked some of the top schools in the state. This is by no means saying that the schools not on there are bad nor is it saying that if you send your child to one of these schools they will get a stellar education - that is all up to the student and the parents. But I was happy to see my childs elem school and middle school on the list .

I would say after having looked at Texas Monthly's list that its either highly flawed or somebody is cooking the books at Aldine ISD.

I don't understand why my son's high school wasn't on the list. He attends Eastwood Academy and it is nationally ranked #72 in the nation amongst ALL high schools. In HISD, the only school ranked higher is Carnegie High School.

Perhaps because that list was from way back in 2006?

Here are the latest Texas rankings - note that Eastwood Academy is ranked #72 and Carnegie is ranked #13 in the nation on the Newsweek's list (#1).
