I lived in Wichita Falls for 7 years and really enjoyed it. Is spread out however, I lived on the outskirts toward Abilene. But was friendly, clean, good economy, felt safe. Went to school at MSU many years ago, and liked WF way back then, so came back. Living in Panhandle at this time due to job offer.

Grew up in Abilene and San Angelo, prefer San Angelo. They both have grown and changed, but San Angelo for the better it seems. Tyler not a bad place, except for all the bugs and terrible humidity! Don't mind conservative, that is why I stay in Texas, but East TX is ultra conservative it seems, or was when I was there in 2000.

Of the cities listed I voted for Tyler. It's surrounded by beautiful forest and has a very nice lake nearby. It's also just a couple of hours from Dallas if you want to go to any big time performances/concerts/museums. Sure Lufkin and Longview have similar surroundings, but Tyler has more to offer in restaurants and shopping.

However, I must say the title of this thread is mis-leading. It should read "which listed mid-size city/area would you choose to live" as many mid-sized cities were left off the list.

I voted for Midland/Odessa since I do live here, kinda anyway, I also like Tyler though. I have family there and its a really nice place I think. If I ever move back to the humid part of the state Tyler would be my choice.

Denton by a long shot.

No other town is more unique, progressive and cultural.

Every other town is typically repressive, regressive or cookie cutter.

San Marcos might be a close choice but Denton has more of a respected music and art scene.... world renowned.

Victoria for me. I had an aunt and uncle who lived there until they passed. The had a really nice Victorian on a quiet street. I like its proximity to the coast, Austin, San Antonio and Houston.

Default A Room Full Of Roses

Believe it or not, I actually voted for Tyler. If I had to live in a place that's mid-sized but still has just enough to get me by, then I would believe The Rose City would be that place.

I'm looking into moving to Texas in a few years. What is the name of that lake? Tyler sounds very nice.
