Don't you think that could BE the point--
seeing how it IS done appropriately in a democratic republic?

And from the news stories I saw today, Abbott apparently had the wrong info (like usual) and went off into hyper mode without finding out what actually was going to be required...
ANYONE can stand outside a polling place observing the electiion requirements and do polling after people have voted...

Second of all, state sovereignty also means that any (non-Texan) American in Texas is present at the pleasure of the State government. I wish the GOP expelled all those non-Texans back to the states they were born or came from. They are taking up TEXAN jobs and straining our natural resources, the roads, and other infrastructure.

There is a reason a lot of former Democrats are now GOP in the state of TX and it has to do with stuff like this.
It has to do with racial prejudice from the Nixon/Regan "Southern Strategy" and corporate money being a stable way to finance re-election campaigns. Remember the HPV vaccine--Merck was able to get Perry's attention. Just follow the money!

Vote fraud is a mainly Democrat thing in the state.
I wish. Not in just in this state but in general, Republican politicians lead voting fraud.

True the Vote is just putting a smoke screen about voter ID while the people in the GOP-controlled elections office are rigging ballot counting like a third-world country. (No wonder they came from overseas?) Voter ID just opened the Pandora's box of National ID. National ID sounds like a good idea!

Honestly I'm worried about ballot rigging rather than voter impersonation in Texas. That along with propaganda on the corporate airwaves create the false sense of Texas as a Red State. The GOP only wins by stealing elections through voter suppression/intimidation, ballot rigging, and disseminating propaganda! Florida in 2000, Ohio in 2004 and attempted in 2008.

People are turning this into a Republican vs Democrat issue...you're crazy if you think your party is free from voter fraud...or any other fraud for that matter. A vote for Republican or Democrat is a vote for more of the same crud.

As for photo ID, the only people b'tching about this is illegal aliens, groups who are supported by minorities, and those people committing voter fraud (Republican or Democrat). If I have to have an ID in order to vote, than so should everyone else. People need to put aside their BS political ideologies and vote American while there is an America left to vote for. We need to vote these career politicians out of office for one thing...Republican or Democrat. Any Senator/House Rep in office more than two terms needs to go...Texas or Federal, again, Republican or Democrat.

The same UN observers that told us Kigali Rwanda was "peaceful and serene", 24 hours before 950,000 Rwandan's were exterminated. Strange that.

I worked as an election observer several times long ago, and there are very strict limits on who can be in an election station during an election. There are also very good reasons for it and I can understand some discomfort if a third party (neither the state or the voter) decides to alter those limits. As an example:
- Some poll watchers (which are allowed under state law) will try to intimidate voters by standing as close as they are allowed while votes are cast;
- Some will question the validity of the vote due to some procedural issue (your spouse was standing next to you while you voted). The point is usually not valid, but causes discomfort and may dissuade others from coming to vote;
- Watchers may try to influence (or confuse) voters with conversation (even if with a person other than the voter);

There are a multitude of other activities that can occur, and the poll-watchers are theoretically there to prevent those things from happening. In reality, election observers have to monitor the watchers.... it can be somewhat comical when both parties have watchers there.

At the end of the day, life is much simpler when there is just one or two election officials and the voters themselves. Once you get lots and lots of people getting involved, things go downhill fast....

Every person involved as part of that NAACP activity should be charged and prosecuted for any actual violation of Texas voter laws.
