Judging by his play history, I wonder if they chose him because of his half-Hispanic ancestry to attract mexican-americans to watch and his looks to get the women and gay men to watch.

I don't watch the NFL, but as someone who watches local TV and reads the newspaper, it's hard to avoid news about the Cowboys. I offer that background because this thread is the first time I've ever heard that Tony Romo was Hispanic. That implies he's not being marketed that way.

Cowboys fans in other parts of Texas might not see it in the Dallas forum.

They did market him that way at first. I remember reading about in the Express News. They interviewed his local relatives.
I'm even wondering if Jones keeps him there because he has a mancrush on Romo.

True, but it is either football related or dallas related. There really isnt anything about texas in there until he is implying an appeal to texas demographic make up. I dunno, the op is vague. Not sure of the point. There are things that i want to see from other cities but have to go to that forum to see. Just because it may be of interest to me doesnt mean it can be posted anywgere. It woukd be crazy if all the posts from the spurs, rockets, rangers, astros, texans, dynamo, etc got posted in the texas forum. This is a dallas related post

I respectfully disagree. Travelling around San Antonio on a daily basis, I am always seeing folks wearing Romo wear. It is not limited to Dallas, never has been. When I grew up in Corpus Christi in the 1970s, Cowboys were "our" team by proxy since they were Texan and most of all... a winning team.

There are cowboys fans everywhere. I just dont see the relevance to Texas. there are fans all over the us. Big in AR and Ok. But the thread would seem odd in the general us forum.

The cowboys thread is the best place for such a question. //www.city-data.com/forum/pro-f...o-cowboys.html

Pretty silly to criticize the post just because it isn't in the Dallas forum. There are thousands of Cowboy fans all over the state. Places like Tyler, San Antonio, Ft. Worth, Corpus, etc., - combined have way more fans than just the Dallas area alone. I doubt the Texans will ever have anywhere near the fan base that Dallas does. A bit jealous, maybe?

Yep, theres alot of Cowboys fans here in San Angelo. In fact our local Albertsons has tons of Cowboys jerseys, etc. that they sell and was even running a discount promotion if you came through the checkout wearing anything Cowboys related be it caps jerseys, etc.
