The numbers would be positive for Austin and negative for DFW, Houston, and San Antonio, in other words those cities lose people to Austin.
Students going to ut and other central colleges. Wouldn't say Austin is the next step at all.

Thanks!

The international numbers for 2012 havent been released yet, but Ill put them in this thread when they do. It will probably be 3-6 months from now.

As for the breakdown of types of international residence, all it says is that those listed came as part of perminent residency.

As for migration within Texas, Ill work on that too. It appears DFW donated residents to Houston, Austin, and San Antonio. Ill have a look and post them.

I also cant help but wonder where the poster to whom this thread is dedicated went to. I would expect him to show up with some ideas since the data pretty much flies in the face of almost everything he asserts about migration into the Texas metro areas.

By law, Texas tracks this stuff. There is actually a state office that does this.

Office of the State Demographer

Lots of good stuff there.

I would take the numbers with some skepticism as they come primarily from drivers license data and other data like it, ie school enrollment. But they are a good snapshot.
