Didn't you hear? He doesn't care what happens to them. He believes that only those with the means to pay for it should benefit. The poor? Let them eat cake!

First off, if you own property you are paying for it. Secondly, I don't know where you are going with the "socialist" comment. Public education is socialist, so are farm subsidies, medicare, medicaid, social security, the postal service, student loans and on and on. I love how everyone tries to demonize the word "socialism" get over it, we are a socialist society and Americans are addicted to it from the rich to the poor, republicans to democrats.

Statewide education rankings are useless due to huge variations between schools within each state. The best you can do is to look at an individual school and go from there.

I wouldn't go so far to say we are a socialist society. But this Americans do hold many socialist ideals.

No, not true. All of those examples are either under strict local control OR contract with private agencies.

The US has compulsory education from K-12. Almost all education is under local control and paid for mostly by local taxes. We have private schools both religious and secular. And we have charter schools, paid for by taxes, but under school control. And many local schools hire private contractors for many things. Hardly a monolithic socialist system.

The postal service is just a very small part of the total goods shipping industry. It contracts out to private firms for much of its work, too.

Farm subsidies are a tiny part of the total agriculture business. I can grow anything I want on my land. No one tells me what to grow.

Medicare and Medicaid contract for services from the private sector. And nearly half of all doctors do not take medicaid/medicare. You also have mostly private practices and private healthcare systems.
