Well, I wasn't going to get into this one, simply because there's just too much to try and pick from. I love it all, country cooking, tex-mex, Bar-b-que, anything fried, cornbread crumbled up in a big ole glass or goblet of sweet milk, BUT, I do love a good old fashioned cheeseburger. The one with everything on it, buns that have been buttered, then put on the griddle, where the patties have cooked, to brown up. Just a good, ole greasy cheeseburger, mmmm. Love the smell of a kitchen after burgers have been cooked.

It occured to me that maybe the reason the term "ink pen" is somewhat common in Texas is because we (like in other parts of the South) tend to blur the pronunciation between pen and pin (I know I do! ~L~).

Soooooo perhaps it was/is a way to distinguish between the two...? Hey, makes sense to me!

Hm, I brought a sandwich to work today for lunch but there's a Whataburger nearby. Now you're making me hungry for it!

I'd have that for dessert, right after my last pork rib. Then I'd get a third 8-ounce bottle of Dublin Dr. Pepper to wash it down.

See, in Texas, you can be creative.

Okay....my last meal...would be my MAMA'S blackeyed peas, homemade cornbread, purple onions, brisket, fried okra and finish it off with a big old bowl of homemade peach cobbler and vanilla icecream.

With all this cheatin' goin' on, I am going to update my Last Meal:

Fried catfish. I will substitute dessert for a chicken fried steak and white cream gravy. Fresh picked and shelled black-eyed peas, and fresh picked okra. And both blended together. And...? Well, hell...any of y'all remember the old country variety show "Hee Haw"?

Pan fried chicken and turnip greens. Black-eyed peas as you please. Okra crisp, and t'maters cold...sliced and salted, don't let 'em get old. Cornbread steamin' and buttered hot, we ain't got no tater tots. Gramaws gettin' in the warsh...now grind that ice cream on the porch...

Gawd, I Love Texas and the South! *smiles

OK. What would be your last meal? Keep in mind you are representing the Great State of TEXAS on your way out...LOL

But seriously, rules are ONE meat or fish, three veggies, a salad, bread, a drink, and condiments are unlimited.

Since I started it, I will go first:

Fried catfish, black-eyed peas, fried okra, mashed 'taters with chicken leavin' gravy. Homemade cornbread OOOZING with REAL butter. Green leaf lettuce salad drippin oil and vinegar...and cold sliced salted tomatoes. Sweet milk to drink (only a true Texan/Southerner of the old school knows what "sweet milk" means! LOL)

Y'all...?
last meal
bbq made with jack daniels.
prunes and cream
ooppps skip the cream
im on a diet.

Well, I have thought long and hard on this one. There are too many good things to eat but here is my current best, last menu:

chicken fried steak
creamy mash potatoes
cream gravy
my own crispy fried okra
my own cornbread with lots of real butter
peach ice cream hand cranked (not by me)
