This would be my take.

Amarillo is much friendlier. Dallas is a large city with all the good and bad that comes with it. Im a big city person so I prefer Dallas. If you prefer a small city, Amarillo may be better.

Amarillo may be friendlier but that would be dependent on whether or not anybody there wants to know you, or you'd want to know them. The place is not a destination other than for the locals and travelers needing to stop for gas, sleep, or other relief.

But if you can jump high enough you could probably see half way to Oklahoma.

This is an odd comparison. It depends more on you. For example, if you were a gay, non-Christian person of color, Dallas would be much more friendly. Dallas has more to offer. If you're white, Baptist, and want a small town to raise a family, Amarillo can be very friendly.

Agreed - like apples and oranges. Depends on which one you prefer - huge metro sprawl with all the traffic congestion and other negatives of sprawl -or- small city with easy commutes but fewer amenities.

Easily Amarillo is much friendlier than Dallas. There are unfriendly folks, and friendly folks in both places though, so it really depends on what you want out of life.

If you are looking for a nice place to raise a family, with a conservative atmosphere, and minus the large metropolitan congestion... then Amarillo is your place.

If you want access to all the urban amenities a large city can offer, a slightly more liberal atmosphere, plenty of night life, and more people to choose friends from... then Dallas is your place.

For me, I choose Amarillo to raise my family, but visit the Dallas area often since my brother chose the metroplex to raise his family.

I agree with all the other posts here. Really comparing these 2 cities is apples and oranges.
