Hi,

My husband and I live in Denton. We'd love to visit a diner around here, but there don't seem to be any. Can you help? What are the best local places to eat.

Thanks for any help!

Hi! I also live in Denton. The best places to eat :

Breakfast:
Seven Mile Cafe- This one is constantly voted one of the best breakfast places in Denton. Great pancakes.
Old West Cafe-They have amazing down south old country cooking here. Biscuits with gravy. Very generous portions as well.
Le Peep Grill is also pretty nice.

Lunch/Dinner:
Greenhouse-Very classy establishment. Probably the most upscale 'looking' restaurant in Denton. Perfect for dates with loved ones, special someone, or dinner. They have a full bar.
RG Burgers-Very laid back place located next to the Chili's off of 288 and I-35. Amazing Burgers. Atmosphere is very laid back. Unlimited steak fires. The burgers are huge.
Bowlery-New restaurant located in the strip center across from the UNT campus. Large vegetarian selection. A great choice if you're trying to eat healthy.
Guiseppe's- Very nice romantic Italian Restaurant. Amazing food.
Mr. Chopstix-This is also a local favorite. Great Amerinese food. (American-Chinese, as in not 'real' Chinese, but the stuff we call Chinese. ie General Tso, Sesame Chicken). You can dine al fresco, order by phone and have them deliver, drive thru. They make it very convenient for you to get their food.

I hope that helped. They aren't 'diners' per se, but they are all great restaurants. Another thing you can do, which I always do to find new restaurants is just take a walk around the square. There's a lot of restaurants in the Industrial District.

I will second Old West Cafe!

There aren't many diner type places around, the only one I can think of was on the square and they closed a year or so ago. Oh, maybe Cups & Crepes, it's a good breakfast place that looks like an old house on the outside. It's up near UNT, I think on Fry Street?

Other great places to eat are El Guapos, Fuzzy's Tacos, and Chuy's for good Mexian. Chuy's is in the Unicorn Lake development off 35 and State School, the other 2 are just a few blocks from the square. For some great, authentic street tacos and latin food, La Sabrocita on Dallas Drive, with the corn painted on the side is yummy, but most would probably want to get it to go.

I love Rudy's BBQ off 35 and Teasley, and then there's a place on Ft. Worth drive just west of I35 with good BBQ, I can't remember the name... Roosters Roadhouse is fun, they were on an episode of Man vs. Food on Travel channel- off the square, next door to Fuzzy's. Try the "Redneck Sushi." For good Italian, there's another place with a name I can't remember near the UNT campus on Oak, next to Voertman's. For chicken, go to Babe's! They have the best fried chicken. There's one in Sanger, Carrollton, and Frisco. The Cupboard has a little cafe for really good health food. They make some fantastic sandwiches. The burger place on the square is really good, same with Beth Marie's for ice cream.

There are a few little places around, you just have to explore and it depends on what you like. There are smaller diner-type mom & pop places just outside of Denton in Argyle and Aubrey areas, too. There is one in Argyle off 377 that is pretty well known.

Thanks for the tips. I've driven past some of these places. We'll be trying them as time and our budget allows.
