And where there are record albums, there are record stores!

Here's a list of ten stores from different parts of Texas that I frequented over the past couple decades. Some are still in business, some have become casualties of the dot com. way of doing things, but I still have some fond memories of them.

El Paso- All That Music- Collectors Marketplace
Amarillo- The Record Rack
Lubbock- Ralph's Records, Tapes, and CD's
San Marcos- Sundance Records
Austin- Waterloo Records
Houston- Sound Exchange
Ft. Worth Doc's Records
Dallas (Irving)- Forever Young Records and CD's
Ft. Worth- Ernest Tubb Record Shop
Dallas- Half Price Books and Records

There are lots of Half Price Books and Records scattered around still, but I note the one here as the best one in the chain, the one on the very south end of the Central Expressway in Dallas.

I still haven't gotten back to that closet. I've got a 3-page list of Texas music artists but I'm afraid I'm turning Nairobi's Texas music thread into a truck stop jukebox! Having fun though.

I'm staying away from Lubbock musicians since I have a thread on that already in the Lubbock forum.

This could be a looonnnnggg thread!
Yep, LOL!! Takes awhile to load (even on hardwired) because of all the videos!

I was a big fan of Selena's, and have most of her albums. I like Conjunto and Mariachi as well as Tejano, too!

Anyway, here's another:

Boy, I didn't know that he was a native!

KK's real talent (like Willie), IMHO, is as a songwriter. I can listen to Willie, but not KK--he's often offkey and flat. But boy, can he write that music! One of my favorite albums is Willie Sings Kristofferson!

I loved The Highwaymen--Willie, Waylon, Johnny Cash, KK....but you can always hear KK's offkey, LOL!

I don't know how I could have forgotten these two! I loved their mix of English and Spanish in the same songs!

Rodriguez brought back some really OLD ones, such as "Jealous Heart", that hadn't had airplay in YEARS.

My favorite show that I've seen was St. Vincent at the Kessler. She may not live in Texas anymore, but she grew up here/records her albums here, so I'm counting that as close enough.
