Can anyone give me information on Sweetwater, Texas? The weather, winter, humidity, fishing, hunting, cost of apartment? My brother seems to like the name, but that is not anything to go by, I'd need more inforation on crime, things to do, what it close to and is it expensive to live there as there isn't much money to go around.

I have a co-worker that owns several rental properties in Sweetwater. The houses are relatively inexpensive, so I asked him why people don't just buy...he said that Sweetwater is a place that people go to 'start over'...lots of bad credit, apparently, and can't buy a house, but are willing to work. Abilene is just down the road, which is a fairly major city.

Can't tell you much more, other than we drive through there on our way to CO every few years.

Yeah, Sweetwater is 35-40 miles from Abilene. It's a quiet town but it seems to have the basic stores and things one needs on a daily basis. It's the home of the "world's largest rattlesnake roundup," LOL. Other than that, I don't know much about it.

I lived in Abilene a long time ago and have been through Sweetwater a few times. They also have an annual rattle snake festival. Here are some links:

Sweetwater is small. Humidity is not bad (I lived in Abilene) and Sweetwater is more entertaining than Abilene. Hunting is pretty good. Fishing isn't due to lack of water. Feral hogs do live around Sweetwater (my speciality) but I moved away from Abilene due to my intense dislike of cockleburs which seem to be everywhere there!

Allen's Family Restaurant in Sweetwater is the best place to eat anywhere! I live in Abilene, but I haven't spent much time in Sweetwater except to go to Allen's a few times a year. It seems like a pleasant small town--about 12000 folks. Easy access to Abilene and shopping.

Weather is Hot in the summer, Cold in the winter, humid in abondunts in the spring and fall. Lots of wind also, hense why were the wind energy capital of texas! Lots of hunting, fishing... unlike what was posted above, all lakes are full at this point. Not a terriably expensive place to be really! Average apartment runs around $400-500 for 2 bedrooms, anything else just email me!

How is Sweetwater more entertaining than Abilene? I've lived in both; I'd rather be in Abilene.
