Seeking the advice of Texans. My wife and I are wanting to move to texas sometime in the next few months. Considering the DFW, SA, Austin, or Houston areas. We are in our twenties and conservative. Have lived in Minnesota all of our lives. Want to leave because it is too cold and liberal with numerous taxes. She is Hispanic, i'm white. We have no children yet but plan to in the future.I'm finishing up a degree in law enforcement and she runs a restaurant. The main things we are looking for is the best place for job opportunities, the weather and cost of living. Anywhere in TX has to be better then MN, but have heard Dallas has cold winters and Houston is very humid. We would be looking to rent for a year or so before we'd buy a home. Some secondary things are which areas have least traffic and crime, and better schools? Lastly We like to go to sporting events, the beach, and dancing. So Any and all advice would be appreciated, would like to hear your take on each cities positives, and negative characteristics. Thanks. Happy Easter.

If you're coming from Minnesota, you will find the winters in Dallas warm.

If you're looking for a beach, you've picked the wrong state. The only good beaches are in the far south of the state.

Honestly, San Antonio seems like the best fit. It's military influences make it conservative to a point, also law enforcement is respected here still. No one will bat an eye at a white/Hispanic relationship. For the most part traffic especially in the established parts of the city is a breeze compared to all of the other cities. Lots of sporting events available, the spurs obviously, but minor league baseball, hockey and soccer are represented. Also it's about two hours to some nice beaches.
It does get hot in the summer, but Dallas seems to be hotter. San Antonio is less humid that Houston as well. Cost if living is cheaper than Dallas and much cheaper than Austin.

Sounds like you described San Antonio, but I would look at one the surrounding smaller cities like New Braunfels, Seguin, Floresville, Pleasanton, Castroville, Boerne and Smithson Valley that ring S.A. and are all within 30 miles of downtown. Hope you and yours had a blessed Easter!

You would do well in any of them. Though from your wishes, I'd look in the suburbs over the city (so Round Rock, Cedar Park, SugarLand, The Woodlands, Plano, Frisco, NW San Antonio, etc.)

You'd do well anywhere in Texas. You just need to find your niche town. I don't really like SA as well but it is my personal feelings.

I will always say Houston has it all ... especially opportunities for her restaurant managerial skills. Beaches on the upper coast are kinda dirty(not white sand) because of sediments from the Mississippi River and Gulf current flow.

I'd recommend either San Antonio or Houston.

SA or Houston, probably. Houston humidity is not all that bad. I found MN to be very humid, albeit at a lower temperature.
