A friend and I are coming down to Texas to check it out and play. Wondering where we could go to have some fun. Anyone have suggestion? As of right now we are planning on going to Dallas/fort worth to check out the stock yards and rodeo on the weekend. I'd live to learn how to rope but not sure if there is anywhere to learn such a thing....

In October, it will be just about impossible to learn how to rope. If you were here during the summer, I would recommend one of several dude ranches in the Hill Country. But they have already shut down for the season by October... The Stockyards Rodeo is still performing in October, but the Mesquite Rodeo stops at the end of September.

October is when the weather is usually really nice, and there are a lot of outdoor fall festivals. It's also a great time to be outdoors doing things like hiking, golf, etc. There will be plenty of things to keep you busy, but finding a rodeo that late in the year may be difficult...

Hmmmm ...golfing? Not something either of us do. Festivals might be interesting. What about the night life? Bars? Meet people?
