Did anyone get a chance to make it to the West memorial service in Waco today? I wanted to go but the basketball stadium was already full when i got there. The lines of firetrucks, EMS, and other first emergency vehicles from across the country, there to show their support for the fallen victims, was very uplifting. My buddy that works in a local restaurant said there were loads of firefighters from NYC in town for the event.

I was not there - But it makes me respect Obama.

Let's face it - I heard some nasty things said here about him, and he sure did not get much support during the elections. (To be honest, I did not vote for him either)

But he proved himself to be President, and he came here to honor those that sacrificed and died....And it was not for politics - he cannot run again for President.

He was shamed into coming to the memorial. When word got out that he was going to skip it and go to a political fundraiser instead, he had to change his plans!

Nothing more can be said about the man. Personally, I think the ceremony would have been just as good or better without him.

Fellow Texans honoring Fellow Texans, the best honor that one can receive.

Did George Bush go to it?
Since he lives 90 miles away from West, TX

What evidence do you have of him being "shamed"? You are just speculating.

He first announced his schedule and was skipping the memorial to attend a fundraiser dinner. Then a couple of hours later, it was announced he would skip the fundraiser and attend the memorial.

He did both on top of the Bush library ceremony. You're just speculating that the President was "shamed" because if you believed it was because he cared, you'd be violating your own predetermined perceptual set.
