If not, I would highly suggest getting into a school first and let that decide where you go. There is way too much that can go wrong with your plan.
In fact, I know someone who is moving soon to Texas,
I will consider your advice and think about it, thanks

It sounds to me like you haven't done much research on the subject. You also will not be able to get resident tuition in Texas. Scholarships are few and far between and you are unlikely to receive one and even if you do, it would be a mere drop in the bucket compared to your tuition costs.

As for working...if you're on an F-1 you can't work off-campus your first year. If you can find an on-campus job then you can more than likely take it, but it's not going to pay enough for you to live on let alone meet your tuition bills. While school is in session you can only work 20 hours a week, going up to 40 during school breaks. If you wanted to take an off-campus job after your first year you would need authorization from USCIS, and they are supposed to only grant permission in cases of extreme financial hardship.

Good luck...sounds like you're going to need it.
I just sent you a message, I hope you can help me

Now, I live in Algeria. For the visa, it would be easy if I can get an acceptance from the university or the college. About the work, the truth is: I'm thinking of finding a work in the dark, I mean in a restaurant or so. I want to learn the academic English because I hope I can continue my studies, I'm thinking about studying law and that will need a high-level-English.

You want to study law but you're content to come to this country and break our laws by working illegally?

Please stay in Algeria.

Pretty sure I did, I'll re-sent it anyway,
WOW, illegally?!!! By "working in a restaurant", I just meant with the approval of the College, I don't want to cause problems especially if I'm an international student, I though the college or the university would give such a permission, but I guess not from what I heard now!
Anyway, I'll re-consider my plan, I think it's somehow weak!
thanks for helping

You know after reading a few of your posts, you are just out to be negative. Give this person a break and if you can't comment positively, why do it at all?

Is a wonderful thing someone would want to come to U.S. from other country in pursuit of learning in any way. Someone being from another country and seeking advice should only be answered in a positive manner. Why? Because we have different ways of communicating. While I can understand your negativity, he may not be able to. And he never said illegally this is yet again a difference in communication and needs to be taken in a sensitive manner.

Don't reconsider your plan on account of this poster!

What you need is someone in your country who helps students who want to study in another country to help you, like a counselor or immigration advisor there. Only as there are procedures to follow like the visa and all.

If money is a issue and you just really want to get in any college than community will be best. I don't have any idea how the visas work for study/work but you really need to find out from someone there first. If this is your goal and wish than just seek info and don't listen to others who are not qualified to guide you. Otherwise when you are here it will only make matters worse. Good luck!
