Hello all, Can someone tell me about living in RGV, texas? I am seriously considering my first real job offer in Mission Tx. I am a newly graduated physical therapist, and the salary offered is almost too good to pass up. I'm from Boston, MA. I'm well aware that it would be a big change. If I did go, my girlfriend would come with me. We are in our mid twenties. It would be awesome if anyone could let me know of good neighborhoods or towns to live. What is McAllen like in comparison to Mission? Are there a lot of people in their twenties who live there? I've heard most people in the area are hispanic, which is not a problem, but would we have trouble fitting in? We are both white, I fluently Speak Spanish, but she does does not. Would she need to? Will she have trouble finding a job? She is an RN. Sorry for all the questions, hopefully someone who is familiar with the area could help me out!
Thanks

Go visit first. That area offers bigger bucks in healthcare for a reason. Your entertainment options will be severely limited. Hope you like hunting, that's what most young men (and older) do for fun down there. Get ready for only one season also.

Be sure to come down here & check it out first. It will be a MASSIVE change from Boston. If you can tolerate it for a few years, you can make a LOT of money. As noted by TXE06, the reason the pay is so good is because of the location. It's the one & only reason we are here--my husband makes twice what he would make if we lived 300 miles to the north.
RN jobs are available--bilingual is a plus, but unless doing home health, it's not a necessity.
Search these forums for RGV--a lot of your questions have been answered in previous posts. (Often by me!)
