Unlike many liberals I do not have a problem with a voter ID law...as long as those without an ID are given assistance in obtaining one. These laws do disproportionately affect minorities, the poor, and the elderly. If we're going to require an ID to exercise a Constitutional right then we should help people get one too.
This is exactly how I feel.

Your grammar, punctuation and spelling are all atrocious.

So you're saying that there was no voter fraud involved? LOL!! A required voter ID of some sort would eliminate some of the existing fraud.

In an auto-centric state like Texas there is almost no way to function without a drivers license. In fact, the first time I voted, I thought it was strange to not show an ID. I have no problem with this law. Elections need to be fair, and accurate.

According to truththevote.com, Texas has nearly 30,000 dead people registered to vote

If voting absentee, how does one present the ID documents?

I dont give a $**t about your opinion on my grammar or writing.

Im saying the results of the election didnt have anything to do with voter fraud. Im not saying voter fraud has never happened.

One of my grandmothers never learned to drive and did not have a picture ID aside from expired passports, which aren't usually accepted as a valid ID anywhere. It can and does happen.

Things have changed a lot since then. This state is full of highways and sprawl. ID is required for everything now. Back then kids could by cigarettes.

Anyway, Passports are accepted.

Hers were expired; expired passports are usually not accepted as a valid form of ID. Current, valid passports are.

She passed on several years ago, but her lack of photo ID was never an issue for her. She even wrote checks without a valid driver's license and no form of ID. She was probably able to do this because she had been shopping at the same stores for so long that everyone who worked there knew her.

I haven't ever used checks (before my time). I pay everything online, with debit, or cash. Cash register POS systems have required ID for at least the last decade, when processing checks. I can't think of any store that doesn't require ID when processing checks. Plus, it take forever when your in line at the grocery store, and someone pays with a check, because hardly anyone ever uses them anymore and the cashiers always have problems processing it.
