Its easy to just look up. Having a poll for a question like this is unnecessary.

But the answer is Houston. Its the center of Filipino culture in the state.

Exactly, why make a poll if you can just look up the demo facts.

Houston by far has the most Filipinos in Texas. Its the reason why they just opened a Jollibee there.

D/FW has less than half of the Filipinos Houston has.

San Antonio more than Austin.

Wrong on DFW. We have 33,000. Houston has 47,000.

Other metros here. Demographics of Filipino Americans - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

You'd certainly think it was a lot less. I guessed half & I was close.

In Houston they are all concentrated in Pearland, Sugar Land, Katy, & the Bay Area around Clear Lake/League City/Kemah & even several hundred (used to be 1,000's) still reside on Galveston Island after Ike.

In Dallas they are mostly in Mesquite & then spread out all over the place in spotty locations around D/FW. No real density or sense of community to speak of up there in North Texas. At least not like in Houston & other cities.

There is a reason Filipinos in the Philippines know about Houston over Dallas. There is a reason Jollibee & many other Filipino restaurants, food trucks, bakeries, & markets are located in Houston not Dallas. Not only that Houston's semi-tropical climate & coastal location is more what they're used to. Houston is also more Roman Catholic than Dallas which plays an important role in the culture when relocating. Then last but not least there is the largest medical facility in the World, the Texas Medical Center.

This is more off topic Houston boosting.

Climate hasnt played a role in Filipino migration to North America. How do you explain the huge amounts of Filipinos in Toronto, Winnipeg, Vancouver, Chicago, DC, and NYC? All of the above have much larger Filipino communities than Houston?

Roman Catholicism? Please. That doesnt have much to do with it either. Otherwise Louisiana, Philadelphia, and Boston would be full of Filipinos.

The biggest pull of the things you mentioned is the Medical Center. Outside the traditional gateways for Filipinos (namely LA, the Bay, Seattle, Vancouver, and Toronto), Filipinos tend to go where there are nursing jobs. Thats how Winnipeg got such a huge Filipino community.

All in all Houston doesnt really have that big a Filipino community. Its 14th in the US and Dallas is the 17th. Nothing really noteworthy here.

Houston has the whole Southern/Southeastern region of the US covered...by a long shot.

I think that accounts for something.

The only places in the US with more Filipino's are the West Coast, East Coast, Vegas, Chicago, & Hawaii.

BTW Dallas ranks 20th not 17th.

Houston's Filipino population is obviously large enough & growing fast enough to warrant having a Jollibee which even most of those cities you named (Chicago & DC) with more Filipinio's don't have.
