Hello all,

I was wondering what are the best private banks in Texas that cater to high net worth individuals and businesses? I want to avoid Bank of America, Chase, Wells Fargo and Citibank if at all possible.

Redstone bank in Hou was awsome, they came to you to do deposits etc but they merged with Green Bank, you might want to look at them, Frost has been really good to the family, great personal service once they know ya.

To find the JDPower rankings of 13 banks in Texas, go here, and scroll about halfway down the page:

2013 Retail Banking Satisfaction Study | J.D. Power

Does anybody really take JDPower seriously, besides advertising executives? It seems like every product advertised has at least one JDPower trophy they can point to.

Personally, I would never walk in the front door of a bank that had branches in more than 2 or 3 states, except maybe to rob it.

I second Frost Bank. Been with them for nearly seventeen years. Not sure what part of Texas in which you reside, but you may want to consider Jefferson State Bank or Broadway National Bank. All three of these are based in San Antonio. As you mentioned earlier, stay away from the megabanks like Bank of America and Chase.

Thank you all for your input and responses....now I have some direction as to where to focus my search.
I am not looking for a private bank to open an account with, but am trying to figure which banks I should send my cover letter and resume out to. I currently work for a highly regarded west coast and east coast based private bank that unfortunately doesn't have a presence in the south or the midwest.

I plan to move to the North Texas area in the near future and wasn't sure which companies have the best overall culture, and compensation packages for their employees.

I will try my best to stay away from the mega banks....

You might also consider a bank in Dallas--Beal Bank--founded by Andy Beal--
kind of maverick guy--made mint of money because he sold all housing stocks before the crash in 08--of course he had a mint before that as well--and has made millions buying distressed properties--
but he marches to a different drummer...
very interesting article in Texas Monthly or Forbes or WSJ about him several years ago--
was in horrible accident in Ford Expedition and came through relatively unscathed--bought 4 of them and put into storage so he would have new model when one wore out...
