I'm looking to find out where & what are the best fine dining restaurants in both cities. I know that La Reve in SA has been getting great reviews, but I don't know about much more. Also, if yall know of any other forums where I could get more info on the subject please let me know.

I've been to Houston a few times and each time, we spent a lot of time in the Theater District. There are lots of good restaurants there that are priced very good for the quality of food they serve.

I really liked Birraporetti's. They serve Italian.

They get really busy during hours before shows at the Theater District.

Get a copy of Texas Monthly to see what places they have reviewed in the cities you are interested in. You can also get more reviews on their website that goes by the same name. They give you an idea of the atmosphere, menu, prices, etc.

Hi, lerkone,

I've eaten at Boudro's, on the Riverwalk in San Antonio, and have to say that the food was wonderful and very different from the stereotype of "tourist-food" that most restaurants on the Riverwalk tend to get. The location is great, and the food is creative and imaginative.
In Houston, I would recommend Mai's Restaurant, if you like Vietnamese. It's the first Vietnamese Restaurant in Houston, a town known for its superb Asian cuisine. The meals there are exceptional, and wonderfully displayed.
If you get down to Galveston, I would recommend Willie G's. It's on the atmospheric harborfront, where you can watch the boats, cruiseships and sun set over the bay, and enjoy a delicious meal. The shrimp is perfect!
Hope this helps some. It's making me hungry just thinking about it.
These places have menus on their websites, if you want to check them out.

The Lodge in Castle Hills is a nice place for fine dining in SA. The Vineyards also nice, there are lots of private( meaning you have to be a member, and they are not country clubs) places that are around town that are very posh and very nice to eat at

The private places are cool, too, as I currently work at the Los Angeles COuntry Club in Bev. Hills, and something along those lines would probably work out great. How does that kind of thing work, though? Is it a private dining club or something?

There are several private dining clubs in the downtown area and I know of one exotic game club in the area also. You might try starting with club corp (you can find them online) and that will get ya started

You might also want to try Bin 555. It's off of Bitters Rd. in North Central SA.
