I am looking at houses in Cottonwood Shores, TX and am wondering if anyone knows what it is like living there, i.e. crime, burglaries, or any problems at all. What are the negatives?

I don't have any personal knowledge about the town, but here's a great place to get an idea of crimes in the area. Just input the zipcode.SpotCrime Crime Map

I believe it has Marble Falls schools and has a reputation as being lower income with a lot of drug issues. Not saying its a fact, just that is the reputation. Its an easy drive to MF for groceries, Wal-Mart and movie theater.
The one thing we noted to ourselves while driving though the area is that it was similar to Kingsland in that there would be a really nice house next to a dump, there were paved streets next to dirt roads.

I have not been in that particular neighborhood. The Marble Falls / Horseshoe Bay area is a nice part of Texas. Have you visited Cottonwood Shores yet?

Looking at it in googlemaps streetview tells you a lot about the area. Lots of small older ranch style houses, has a semi-rural feel. Minimal landscaping, narrow streets and a few trailer houses here and there. No obvious community amenities that I could see. The area is pretty flat, not scenic, lots of mesquite trees.

According to the color coded map here //www.city-data.com/city/Horseshoe-Bay-Texas.html

Cottonwood Shores has a higher Median Family Income ($45,708) than Granite Shoals ($28,608) across the bay, but lower than the Horseshoe Bay areas around it ($58,276) or Meadow Lakes ($63,185) directly across the river. Unemployment is very low 1.5%.

Crime rate for all of the area is very low 140 compared to a US Average of 319.
