Being from Seattle maritime recreational activities might be an important consideration to you, and if so the choice might be obvious.

Since I follow NW politics casually, I am aware of some of the things going on in the Seattle area (such as the Communist council-person suggesting Boeing make buses since the union rejected Boeing's final offer). And Sea-Tac already has a $15 minimum wage.

The OP said Houston or Dallas. Colorado wasn't a choice.

One thing to consider for either Dallas or Houston is that Austin is about three hours away by car. Your choices are not limited to what is available in Dallas or Houston. Both of those cities have good museums, and attract lots of touring music artists. A Seattle person will probably not like the climate in either city except for much more sun than Seattle.

Austin has much bigger hills, prettier lakes, and a more youthful vibe (because of the university).

I have no personal experience to relate, but I don't believe it is easy to get in trouble in Texas for private and low key use of weed.

Thank you! My restaurant does have some branches in Denver, but they are all fully staffed. If I had to transfer, my upper ups told me Texas, Dallas or Houston, would be a lot easier than Denver.

Oh, and she didn't suggest Boeing make buses...she suggested the workers stage a coup and take over the Boeing plant to make buses themselves, Bolshevik style.

I have some left of center views too, (and some right of center views) but this woman and her followers are CRAZY.

I've been to Austin and it was pretty nice...but hot. We drove from there up to my friend's family in Oklahoma...it seems that the further into the panhandle I got the more "stereotypical" Texas became. I was actually surprised, however, by how nice most of the state was. It wasn't the cesspool of racism and ignorance that we were told it was in the North East.

Most Texans, in recent polls, also believe private weed use should be legal. I could wait...I give it a few years before it's legal nation wide. But I can live without weed if it means having a job. I just use casually, and I am far from a stoner.

Good point. Houston does have the Gulf nearby...is fishing big there? I've only been to Austin and Amarillo, so I'm just going by research.

I know that. But they will go after lawyers, doctors etc as well as very attractive men and hence, there will be women in my league who are available. In Seattle, even the beautiful women tend to be less attractive...hard to explain unless you've been here. All men compete for the average looking woman because there aren't that many above average, creating more competition.

I read somewhere that Seattle has one of the largest populations of women who don't think shaving their legs is important...

I love this city, but when it comes to females, Seattle is not the best place on Earth to say the least.

Oh, and I make decent money and will soon make more when I get a hirer sommelier certification. I'm far from a guy in a khaki shirt at Denny's.

Speaking of making a 180 about women in Seattle.. You use to have such great praise and high esteem for them.. I guess the daily attire of sweatshirts and gym pants as well as their ultra-feminist, more intellectual than thou attitude finally got the best of you?? No hard feelings, VictorianPunk, I am with ya man..

Texan women can be very homely, but Houston (and maybe Dallas) probably have a lot of the Dixie Chick style girls, like the Texas version of Brittney Spears. If I was going to find me a nice Texan girl I'd find a more wholesome and southern-cultured one from a smaller city or town. I met some folks from Tyler who were visiting Seattle and found them to be very kind, had a cool sounding accent and were very hospitable. The guy's wife was just like the most beautiful, kind and sweet gal I ever met.

If I am not incorrect, I think Houston (the city itself) elected a very left-wing feminist socialist mayor, as well.. If socialism is something you are trying to evade, you are best to go to Dallas versus Houston.

U don't need a job like that to get a good looking girl or two or three hehe. Ive been to Seattle and the girls were just...damn. I feel sorry for the guys there. That feminist, crazy lady crap is nothing like that I n Houston Victorian. That whole liberal holier than thou attitude is confined to the circles u expect it to be in and even then, its not in ur face like Seattle. Yes people fish in Houston. Keep in mind Houston is a diff best than Seattle. A lot of diff cultures and types of people in the city and can be a lot more dangerous but just be smsrt

Didn't say you were. Just saying that hot...and even not-so-hot...chicks in Dallas are golddiggers.

I'm a 38 year-old single female, average-looking, and the dating scene for me is a major fail. The available men here are truly, truly awful. If they're not fat sweaty losers living at home with mom or "students", they're extremely hot commitment-phobes who are looking for Barbie.

Goes both ways.
